How long does a typical installation of floor tile take? Usually 4 to 5 days.
Flooring ... one of the most common uses for tile.
Flooring must be done right, from the start. Artisan tile begins by looking at your sub-floor. If there is water damage then we replace sections that are bad, if there is loose or creaky sections then we nail them down. Once tile is set it must remain rigid and unmoving, such movement will shorten the life of your floor.
Tile must have the right underlayment. We prefer Schluter-DITRA Matting waterproofing and uncoupling membrane. Schluter Ditra is an orange polyethylene mat with square, dovetailed recesses and an anchoring fleece laminated to the underside. It is as light as a feather and much easier to work with than Wonderboard, fiberboard, Hardyboard, or Durock. Ditra really addresses two major problems:
Once Ditra is down it provides a vapor barrier which protects your floor from water damage from above and below.
We believe in Ditra so much that we provide it at our cost. If for some reason a tile is broken at some future date, it can be removed and replaced easily and the new tile will lay flat and inline with the original tile on your floor, that claim cannot be made with other underlayments.

- Ditra provides adequate support and load distribution for the tiles,
- Ditra is only 1/8 inch thick, which minimized the kitchen floor transition problem.
