The Kerdi System. 1 Kerdi Board, 2 Kerdi, 3 Schluter-DILEX Cove, 4&5 Schluter-RONDEC
Artisan Tile has installed many replacement countertops, some have been stone such as Granite, some have been man made solid surface materials such as Zodiaq® quartz by DuPont. These materials please many people and have long lives.
Tiled countertops are becoming a popular alternative to solid surface countertops such as granite or stone. In order to produce these beautiful and durable tiled countertops, the proper installation system must be used. Artisan tile begins with an oak base, we never use compressed materials that could rot and fall apart over time due to hot water vapor, next we use Kerdi-board by Schluter, Kerdi is a vapor barrier, that will protect your tile above from below, and your counter base from any spilled or setting water above.
When the counter surface is in place , a tile backsplash is usually installed. This can be from six inches above the counter, or go as high as your cabinets. Often we install behind stoves, refrigerators and around the kitchen walls. Water vapor can enter your home through the exterior walls, even with green board dry wall that moisture can penetrate and destroy your tile backsplash. Artisan tile uses Schluter Kerdi to make a barrier to that moisture, as a result your kitchen tile can and will stand the test of time.
Artisan tile can design and install the dream kitchen you have wanted. It's funny but the kitchen is the place where most people start to look when they tour your home, it is still the place where families have gathered for generations. You can have the beautiful kitchen you have always wanted, at a price you can also live with.

The kitchen floor is a little different from any other floor in your home.
The first thought is that quite often, people occasionally drop a skillet or frying pan on the floor, which could damage floor tile. But the thing that usually never occurs to most folks is that, your refrigerator when filled can weigh hundreds of pounds and sits on four rollers, concentrating that weight on those four small points. Most women will often pull the fridge out away from the wall to clean under it and clean the drain pan. This is important to consider when choosing your tile because extreme weight can be brought to bear momentarily to any open space on your floor.
Artisan Tile plans for this from the beginning. The Tile you choose to use is important. A thick porcelain tile is the best choice as it can and will better hold against the strain of momentary weight on very small places. The underlayment is even more important. Artisan Tile uses Schluter Ditra. it both holds your tile more securely, protects against moisture penetration from both sides, and against slight floor movement. Keeping your tile in place, and looking great for years to come.
Artisan Tile believes in Ditra so much that we include it in your floor at our cost.
